The Triax Lumberjack Club (TLC)

As Parachutists, every now and again, our jumps are interrupted by one of the building blocks of mother nature; those cleaners of the air we breathe, those givers of oxygen, gymnosperms and angiosperms alike--that's right. . . trees. Be they poplar, pine or privet, beech, birch or buckeye, spruce, sequoia or sycamore—many jumpers have somehow sought out one (or more) of our tall perennial friends to land in, seemingly ignoring otherwise perfect landing areas just inches away.

While in the past these jumpers have been shortsightedly mocked by their comrades for their action, being called names like “Pussy [willow]," or “Hack [berry]," these times are indeed, in the past. The time has come to celebrate our inexorable marriage of parachute and tree for B.A.S.E. jumpers. Hence, the birth of the Triax Lumberjack Club.

To be a member of the club, it's pretty simple. You have to have landed your parachute in a tree. Accidentally, On purpose, it doesn't matter! Join us and tell about your experience of when nylon and branch collided!

If you qualify, just fill out our online form [yes, we're working on it...give us 'till Feb. 15th or so] to tell us about yourself and your experience(s). We will issue you your "TLC" number and a card. If you have any video or pictures, please indicate that on the form so we can arrange to make your story that much more fun for others to read. We will format your answers for displaying on the web page and post your story and your video/pictures.

Although we don't have any of Redeye's (TLC #1) tree landings documented on film or video, TLC #2, our own Kenyon Salo's tree adventure was well documented and can be seen in "Continuum."
